About Regional Media Group

A leader in independent local news across East Sussex

In a time when the decline of traditional newspapers has left many communities without trusted information sources, Regional Media Group Limited is leading the revival of independent local journalism in East Sussex.

The company publishes three popular free community newspapers — Hailsham News, Bexhill News and Eastbourne News — bringing back meaningful, hyperlocal reporting to almost a hundred thousand residents each month.

Founded in 2021 by Paul Gibson, an experienced journalist with a background in broadcasting and publishing, Regional Media Group was created in response to the growing need for unbiased, locally produced news.

Unlike national media groups, the company is rooted in the communities it serves. Its titles provide comprehensive local news coverage, community features, public notices and important updates written by local people, for local people.

Hailsham News was the first title to launch under the group in late-2021. As a free monthly newspaper, it quickly became a trusted source for Hailsham news, covering everything from council decisions and community campaigns to crime reports and inspiring local stories. The paper is available in print throughout the town and online via a dedicated Hailsham News website and social media.

Following Hailsham’s success, the group expanded with the launch of Bexhill News in July 2022, followed by Eastbourne News in June 2024. These free monthly newspapers deliver reliable, apolitical local journalism to tens of thousands of readers.

Each paper is tailored to its town, offering timely and relevant stories that matter to residents. Both Bexhill’s local news and Eastbourne’s community updates are available in print and online, with growing audiences on social media platforms and local forums.

All titles are proudly apolitical newspapers, committed to maintaining editorial neutrality. They do not endorse political parties or ideologies, instead offering a balanced and inclusive space for all voices.

Each paper includes regular columns from local MPs, Josh Babarinde, Nusrat Ghani and Dr Kieran Mullan. This gives constituents direct insight into their representative’s work in Parliament and within the community without bias.

Each title is free to read, thanks to a strong network of advertising from local businesses. From independent retailers and tradespeople to event organisers and estate agents, advertisers benefit from highly targeted, local exposure to thousands of residents across East Sussex.

Regional Media Group offers affordable newspaper advertising in East Sussex, both in print and online, helping businesses connect with engaged, loyal audiences.

In addition to its printed editions, the company maintains strong digital platforms with up-to-date coverage of local events, breaking news, business updates and human interest features. Readers can access East Sussex local news online at eastsussex.news.

Regional Media Group newspapers are more than just publications — they’re a central hub for local life. From covering town council meetings to promoting fundraising efforts and local events, the papers are deeply involved in the communities they serve.

They support local charities, offer space for reader-submitted stories and photos and highlight positive news that might otherwise go unnoticed.

As of 2025, Regional Media Group Limited is one of the fastest-growing independent publishers in East Sussex, with further expansion on the horizon.

Plans include new titles in underserved towns, expanded digital content and continued investment in quality local reporting.

In a media landscape where local voices are too often drowned out, Regional Media Group stands out as a powerful reminder that independent, community-driven journalism not only still matters—but thrives when done right.
